This was the perfect retractable screen (great price point and quality) for my situation. Mounted on the top of a wall with a large window, it also acts like a blackout curtain. The projectable screen area is 88" wide so a 16:9 projected image gives you a 100" diagonal screen image. Mounting wasn't difficult but best done by 2 persons. The extend and retract action is easy, smooth and reliable so far. The retraction is dampened to work quietly and minimizes roll-up damage. The screen looks good and appears to provide a good clean bright image but I don't have anything else to compare it with. I would definitely buy another screen by Akia if the need arises.
Very good projector screen works perfectly in our living room
The screen arrived without damage and was straightforward to mount (although you need 2 people for it). The mounting options are flush against a wall or hanging from the ceiling. If you want to have the screen even an inch away from the wall, you should buy separate mounting brackets. There were no significant wrinkles or curling - the screen hangs very flat - with the exception of a couple small bumps towards the bottom. They are not noticeable when viewing a projected image. Obviously, this screen is not compatible with short- (or ultrashort-) throw projectors. One thing to note is this screen appears to be 16:10 instead of 16:9, so there is white space above and/or below a 16:9 image if the screen is fully pulled down (you can see in some other customer review images). This doesn't bother me at all and opens up the option for purchasing a 16:10 projector in the future, but it is a noticeable difference from the product image.Overall, highly recommended if you're in the market for a basic screen with good build quality.
When we repainted our living room, we had to take down our tv. We used one of the walls with a projector we had in the closet. When it came time to put things back up, we decided to just keep using the projector since it’s much bigger than a tv anyway. We got this screen and it has been amazing! The screen retracts slowly, so we don’t have to worry about it breaking, dust doesn’t cling to it like every other surface in our house, and the picture is clear! We love it!!
For the money, this screen is pretty great. Feels well made, retracts well, no wrinkles, and is versatile enough for different kinds of mounting. I previously tried 3 different screens before getting this one. Neither of the previous screens survived shipping. They always came in a broken box, with broken parts, and needed to be returned. Thankfully, this screen made it to me in one piece on the first try. It did come pretty well packaged, but I did notice a small dent in the middle. I only mention this because I want others to know that chances of getting a broken screen are high, and if you get one with a small dent like this, consider yourself pretty lucky. Once you mount it, you wont notice the dent, and it does not effect the viewing experience. The loop that comes installed lends itself to lots of different kinds of mounting. I used a heavy duty shelf bracket and clamp from home depot. I chose to use a larger bracket because I wanted to be able to pull it down in front of the tv. I posted photos in case anyone need some ideas. I do recommend this screen, and find that it is well worth the money.
